Matt oversees the MWA ESG and Sustainable Business Practice inclusive of over 25 corporate clients and a team of highly talented professionals. He brings leading industry expertise in corporate ESG and climate management and strategy development. Prior to joining MWA in 2021, he spent seven years working at TransAlta as their Global Sustainability and ESG Lead, developing their climate management reduction plans (including their 2030 GHG target and 2050 carbon neutrality strategy), spearheading their integrated reporting initiative (combined financial and sustainability reporting), supporting a large coal transition, and supporting development of a diverse renewable energy fleet. Matt also worked at ARC Resources for nine years in the capital markets and investor relations function, during which time he oversaw the communications team. Matt has an MSc. in Renewable Energy, Enterprise Management and Sustainability. Matt previously served on the Government of Alberta’s ESG Working Group and was Board Chair for Connecting Environmental Professionals. He was awarded ‘Top 40 under 40’ by Avenue Magazine in 2019.
