Delon Chan was appointed Consul and Head of Office of the Consulate of Canada in Houston in September 2019. The Consulate of Canada in Houston promotes Canadian commercial interests in trade, investment, energy, and the environment.
Delon leads a team that promotes trade, investment, and innovation in the energy, cleantech, and life sciences sectors. In addition, Delon is the Oil & Gas Trade Commissioner assisting Canadian energy companies in doing business in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. This entails assisting Canadian companies with export market development and innovation opportunities including; out licensing, raising venture capital/financing, and technology demonstration.
This is Delon’s third consecutive diplomatic posting to the United States. Previously, Delon was Consul & Trade Commissioner, leading Foreign Direct Investment Attraction Program, at the Consulate General of Canada in Detroit and Dallas. Before that he was the Senior Marketing and Trade Officer with Agriculture and Agri-food Canada where he assisted Canadian companies in exporting their agricultural products and in commercialization of their agricultural technology.
Delon has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) from the University of Manitoba with a double major in finance and marketing and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
