With over 25 years of experience in the energy sector, Stastia excels in business development, contracts, and negotiations across the upstream, midstream, and LNG industries. Her extensive local and international exposure to upstream gas value chains has honed her expertise in stakeholder management and collaboration with joint venture partners, communities, governments, and Indigenous Peoples.
As Shell Canada President and Country Chair, Stastia drives the integration and coordination of business investments and operational performance across Shell’s lines of business in Canada, including upstream, downstream, integrated gas, and new energies, and is accountable for Shell’s overall reputation and stakeholder relations in the country.
In addition to her President and Country Chair role, Stastia is also Vice President of Canada Integrated Gas. In this capacity she is responsible for Shell Canada’s upstream business and the governance of Shell’s 40% equity interest in LNG Canada. Stastia and her upstream team have been instrumental in ensuring Shell’s readiness for LNG Canada start-up, including the build-out of significant and competitive gas supply.
Stastia’s career with Shell started in 1994 as a commercial graduate. She progressed through several leadership roles in land, strategy, and finance, and took on the role of Joint Ventures and Land Manager for Shell Canada, based in Calgary, in 2008.
She moved to Houston, Texas in 2014 as Business Opportunity Manager, and two years later made another international move to Brisbane, Australia where she held the role of Manager of Commercial for Shell’s QGC business, one of Australia’s leading natural gas producers, progressing the asset from start-up to stable operations. Later she went on to become the General Manager, East Coast Commercial, for Shell Australia.
Stastia returned to Houston in 2019 as the General Manager Deal Execution, Americas, where she led a team of mergers and acquisitions professionals across the Americas supporting material transactions for the Integrated Gas, Downstream, Upstream and Renewables businesses. She returned home to Calgary in 2023 when she assumed the role of Vice President, Canada Integrated Gas.
Stastia is a committed leader with a great passion for bringing people together, encouraging individual growth, empowering teams, and delivering robust business outcomes.
Stastia has served as a director on several Shell Boards. She is the senior sponsor for Shell Canada’s employee resource group, Indigenous Network, and is an active member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
Stastia holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. She and her husband Mark are nature enthusiasts who enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking and skiing.
