Katie Kachur

Vice-President, Government Relations, West
Canadian Propane Association

Katie Kachur is a dynamic public affairs strategist and thought leader with experience in advocacy, lobbying, policy development and communications in the energy sector. Katie is currently the Vice President of Western Canada for Government Relations for the Canadian Propane Association (CPA) where the CPA team engages in policy at all levels of government and works with members to design and implement sustainable energy policies. Katie is responsible for development and implementation of the CPA’s upstream policy strategy and overall political advocacy engagement. She is well-known throughout the industry as being a collaborative and pragmatic leader with a thoughtful approach to policy and regulatory development.


After graduating with her Masters from Public Administration from the University of Victoria she began her career in the energy sector at an environmental non-profit organization (The Pembina Institute) as an oil sands policy analyst. She found her passion in the energy sector and continued her journey at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), Canada’s largest energy association, spending her time on the sustainability, communications, and oil sands teams before joining TC Energy, one of the largest North American pipeline companies. She has a proven track record in cultivating alliances and advancing federal and provincial advocacy initiatives. Her strengths include an ability to build consensus; clarify and articulate the business implications of public policy; and engage effectively with senior executives, governments, advocates, industry, and other associations.


Katie has served on the Board of Directors for Calgary Reads, a non-profit childhood literacy organization and currently serves as Community Members for Hull Services, whose mission is to partner with young people and families. Katie has an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Calgary where she played for the University of Calgary Dinos varsity soccer team.

One of the reasons Katie is passionate about the energy industry is the opportunity and innovation that continues to grow out of the sector. Katie is engaged in a multitude of career development initiatives related to the energy sector, as she is passionate about her work and the opportunities the sector will continue to provide for the next generation of leaders.
