Arvind Rajendran is a professor of Chemical Engineering and the Director of the Centre for Energy and Mineral Processing at the University of Alberta. He received his PhD from ETH Zurich, Switzerland and started his academic career at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He moved to the University of Alberta in 2012. He has co-authored over 90 papers in gas separations and pharmaceutical purifications. Arvind has (co-) advised 50+ highly qualified personnel (MSc+PhD+Post-doc). His research group focuses on solid-sorbent gas separations with applications in CO₂ capture, direct air capture, oxygen purification and helium separation. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as an associate editor of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and as an area editor of Adsorption- the journal of the International Adsorption Society. Arvind was part of the team (along with the University of Calgary, University of Ottawa and Svante) that reported the first commercial metal-organic framework (MOF) based CO2 capture technology.
